Is BIOBARRIER® safe for the environment?
Yes. Trifluralin, the active ingredient in Biobarrier, has a lower acute oral toxicity than table salt or asprin.
I have animals. Can they be harmed?
The chemical is enclosed in the black capsules but to be safe all animals should be kept away from the product until installed in location.
What protective clothing do I need to wear during installation?
Wear Chemical resistant gloves ( Nitrate Gloves) and eye protection. Avoid contact with skin and clothing to prevent staining as there is a dye in the product.
If you do come into contact with the product, wash with soap and water.
Is BIOBARRIER® chemical free?
No. BIOBARRIER® contains the chemical Trifluralin which is enclosed in the black capsules attached to the Geotech fabric.
Can I install BIOBARRIER® myself?
A certified professional is required to oversee / install the barrier. Contact us for a list of recommended contractors.
Where can BIOBARRIER® be installed for Root Control?
Building Foundations, Retaining Walls, Vehicle Crossings, Driveways, Swimming Pools, Stormwater and wastewater lines, Golf Greens/Tees/Cart Paths, General Paths, Landfills, Median Strips, Pots/ Plant Containers, Roof Gardens, Septic Tanks/Fields, Sidewalks, Tennis Courts, Underground Pipes/Cables, Underground Storage Tanks.
Where can BIOBARRIER® be installed for Weed Control?
Anywhere you don’t want weeds. IE: In dangerous locations such as highway guard rails, street signs/ medians, and utility substations, as well as landscaped gardens and beneath gravel paths and paving.
How close to a water supply can BIOBARRIER® be installed?
Not within 20m of a waterway or water source as a precaution. BioBarrier has an extremely low water solubility of 0.3ppm.
How is BIOBARRIER® secured?
Vertically for tree root control, BIOBARRIER is secured with sod pins and then backfilled.
Horizontally for weed control, BIOBARRIER is secured with sod pins and a minimum of 60mm mulch, soil or gravel that must be maintained.
Is the chemical in BIOBARRIER® systemic?
No it is non-systemic.
Can I use BIOBARRIER® in my vegetable garden?
All BIOBARRIER® products are for non-food uses only. Do not use on or around food or animal feed crops.
Does BIOBARRIER® need to overlap when installed?
When joining 2 pieces of BIOBARRIER®, overlap seems a minimum of 50mm or the width of 2 nodules on the BIOBARRIER fabric.
